Motorcycle licensing contract

AJL invested in a fleet of new motorcycles and training facilities in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport. Each facility is required to have an area to practice riding motorcycles (referred to as ranges) measuring 25m x 52.

Tasmania was experiencing a disproportionate rate of injuries and deaths resulting from motorcycle accidents.

The Tasmanian Motorcycle Council lobbied the Tasmanian Government to implement a new program that required license applicants to undertake a practical training component on the road as well as an overhaul of the theory component.

This had major ramifications for course fees and costs for AJL however the results in decreased injuries and deaths have been significant.

Novice Motorcycle Riders made 124 claims to MAIB in 2016

Novice Motorcycle Riders made 23 claims to MAIB in 2019

AJL Training consult regularly with the TMC and have acted on advice and suggestions made by TMC.

Feedback from our members has been very positive both in regard to the new program and the way in which AJL Training deliver it.

We continue to support AJL Training in the delivery of motorcycle licensing in Tasmania and sincerely hope they will continue to do so for the longer term.

Regards
